If and when completed, this crucial transfer business should set the tone for what is to follow this summer.
The deal would confirm Rangers – led by Andrew Cavenagh and Danny Rohl – are serious about recruiting men and leaders who can handle the pressure and demands at Ibrox.
Scotland World Cup squad member Shankland is a player and a focal point who was a key component in Hearts’ run to the brink of the Scottish title in recent months.

The Lawrence Shankland transfer from Hearts to Rangers is expected to be completed imminently, subject to the medical examination on Tuesday.
