Rangers will head to Spain for a pre-season camp late next week, with fixtures to follow.
As reported by the Rangers Review, Danny Rohl’s plan to head to Austria to fine-tune preparations for the new campaign has been shelved, with Derek McInnes opting to take a different direction.
As things stand, West Ham is the only open pre-season game scheduled, but more games are set to follow.
McInnes has already confirmed that a bounce game will take place at Auchenhowie this week, but further games will be arranged for the trip to Spain.
Moving beyond scar tissue from previous Spain camp
Supporters will be eager to learn of the final details once an official announcement is made, while some will be hoping that a potential return to the La Manga complex will not be ominous for the new manager.
The exact destination has not yet been confirmed, but just over two months ago, La Manga was the destination where the Rangers squad spent the break before the SPFL split.
They went into that camp off the back of serious momentum after the stunning Falkirk comeback, but that turned out to be the high tide mark of the season.
The less said about the capitulation that followed, the better.
All that matters now is the upcoming campaign under Derek McInnes and the Spain update is another small step toward the big kick-off on July 31.
