Report claims Diawara chooses AC Milan over Rangers – why this is a blessing in disguise

Rangers are said to have lost out in the race for Sankhoun Diawara, with the Paris-born player opting for AC Milan over Rangers.

At first glance, there should be no contest for most players, but the 20-year-old centre-back is being recruited for the Rossoneri’s Futuro side – the reserve side that plays in Serie D.

First team football, playing for titles and Europe or a shot at possible future exposure at the San Siro?

If confirmed, this is a blessing in disguise and Sankhoun Diawara has done Rangers a favour.

Sankhoun Diawara rejection could be blessing in disguise

Derek McInnes needs committed players ready to give their all and fully buy into the new era under the Scotsman.

Rangers have a genuine need at centre-back at present, and the team and squad can’t afford another passenger.

We need an impact here and now from a player ready to prove themselves, to show their quality and excel.

Rangers must quickly secure the next centre-back target

It is understandable if the young player prefers La Dolce Vita in Milan over the long, grey winter that lies ahead in Glasgow, but from a football perspective, it’s a questionable career decision.

If it’s right for Diawara, good luck to him, but Rangers must move on quickly.

Today, we learned that Rangers are targeting another centre-back at the same time as the Troyes league winner, so if this move is dead, it’s time to move quickly to secure the other target in time for the weekend.

McInnes referenced hitting the post a couple of times on transfer targets and this appears to be another one, so efforts must be focused to put the ball in the net.
