Rangers have made a decisive, timely move to land Japanese winger Daisuke Yokota from Bundesliga 2 club Hannover 96.
Out of nowhere!
As reported by Florian Plettenberg, a fee in the region of £3 million is said to have been agreed with the Lower Saxony club for a player who they just bought in June.
Last season, Yokota was on loan at Hannover from Gent with a purchase option included in that agreement, but he isn’t staying around for another season in the German second tier.
Rangers pounce for Daisuke Yokota
The timing of this move isn’t a coincidence.
Everyone can see that Rangers are still short.
Derek McInnes made his feelings clear at Tannadice on Friday night after the 1-1 Premiership opener with Dundee United.
More players and, importantly, quality players, are required to lift the team.
The Europa League squad has been confirmed, but two further players can be added up to 22.59 (UK) on Wednesday, the night before the first leg game against Jagiellonia Bialystok.
Reinforcements are required and all being well, Daisuke Yokota will be named in the squad on Thursday in eastern Poland.
More to follow on Tuesday on Read Rangers.
