“I wouldn’t be surprised at all” – £25 million game-changing transfer scenario demands Rangers attention

Reports in Turkey have suggested that Besiktas could be about to launch a game-changing £25 million bid for Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti.

The Portuguese Under-21 international is on the watchlist of different clubs across Europe, with particular interest from Turkey.

Galatasaray were previously mentioned, but it appears that Besiktas are more serious about preparing a deal – with contact already made between the respective parties.

According to Turkish football agent and consultant Osman Altunterim, the “clearest interest” is from Besiktas and in a bold post on X, he said “I wouldn’t be surprised at all” if an offer arrives at Ibrox imminently.

Youssef Chermiti transfer latest

Rangers are in no rush to sell Youssef Chermiti and if any clubs want him, they will need to pay top dollar.

Altunterim claims Rangers have set the price tag at €30 million (£25.7m) and they won’t move from that figure.

Beyond the fee, his tone suggests that Besiktas are serious about their interest, with Rangers’ resolve about to be tested.

If they were to land a £25 million offer on the table, that is a game-changing scenario that would demand the attention of Rangers chiefs and open negotiations.

It would also represent a situation on the pitch that would require swift action, but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves just now.

What has been said about Besiktas’ interest in Chermiti

As above, Osman Altunterim published the following info on social media:

“I know where this name came from, who suggested it to the club, what the conditions are, which teams from Turkey had shown interest before, and even that right now, Besiktas wants him more than Galatasaray does – I know the entire process from start to finish.

“Sometimes I have to swallow certain things because during the time I was doing agency work, the things we discussed in friendly chats with the people I knew had to stay there.

“I’ll say just this much – Right now, the clearest interest in this kid in Turkey is from Besiktas.

He continued, “It’s beyond comprehension how a name that wasn’t on Galatasaray’s list just three days ago suddenly becomes a player they’ve been interested in for a long time!

“Additionally, Rangers wants a flat 30 million Euros for Chermiti! No loans or anything like that! I’m saying it so you know.

“If Besiktas agrees tomorrow, I wouldn’t be surprised at all. I’d say it’s a great move.

“If Galatasaray gets bold and spends 30 million on a guy to back up Osimhen, I’d say ‘then why the hell have you been chasing loan players all this time’, but I’d congratulate them. Just so you know.”
