Andrew Cavenagh fires the starting gun on further Rangers arrivals this month

Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh has confirmed he expects a further “three to five” signings in the current transfer window.

He was speaking on Monday morning at the club’s Annual Shareholder Meeting, which took place at the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow.

The news is encouraging, given the latest disappointment that unfolded against Hibs on Sunday, but for now optimism is in short supply throughout the fanbase.

Rangers and the fans require wins. That’s what changes the mood and buys time for McInnes to build the team.

Cavenagh comments on Rangers transfer news

As detailed by the Rangers Review, the chairman was reluctant to go into too much detail, but he indicated that significant work was still required and that was likely to lead to “three to five” new faces coming in.

That is in addition to the required departures to balance the squad, with question marks over Nico Raskin from a player trading perspective, then there is the likes of John Souttar, Lyall Cameron and Ross McCausland who are surplus to requirements and need to be moved on.

Mohamed Diomande looks set to be the next player to head for the exit, while progress has been made today on negotiations with PSV Eindhoven for Couhaib Driouech.

Andrew Cavenagh, as much as Derek McInnes, has a lot of work ahead at Ibrox in the coming weeks.
