It has been claimed that Fenerbahce are preparing to make a bid for Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin.
The speculation emerged on Friday morning, with online reports emanating from Turkey that the Istanbul giants have “initiated official contacts for Nicolas Raskin”.
As Derek McInnes has said on a few occasions, the Belgian World Cup player is deemed a ‘flight risk’ and there is a strong argument that Rangers need to sell him in this window to truly push on.
Interest, and ultimately bids, in the player haven’t surfaced as expected, creating an interesting sub-plot to the story of Rangers’ summer.
With a fortnight to go, all that could change, especially as the top leagues are just kicking into gear now.
Fenerbahce make contact for Nico Raskin – report
It remains to be seen if there is any veracity to the latest Nico Raskin speculation, and even if that is the case, if he would be interested in playing in the Super Lig.
Earlier in the summer, Villarreal were said to be close to an agreement for Raskin, but such a bid never materialised.
With the type of player he is, you could see him flourishing at a certain level of club in Spain or Italy, but the reality is that there’s nothing solid on the table to change his status.
Until that changes, Nico Raskin will remain a Rangers player and he will be called upon again for the important Conference League clash against Jablonec at Ibrox.
