A Venezuelan source has claimed that Rangers and Portland Timbers are two million apart on the valuation of Kevin Kelsy.
According to Caracas-based writer and analyst Adrian Garces, the clubs aren’t far apart and a deal is still within reach.
Portland Timbers are said to value the 22-year-old at around $12 million, while Rangers’ most recent offer was at the $10m mark.
With less than 10 days to go until the end of the transfer window in Scotland, the whole recruitment team at Ibrox will be aware of the need to get the required level of player in place.
Rangers still need at least three quality additions.
Rangers close to securing Kevin Kelsy agreement
“Rangers continues negotiations with Portland, having the player’s approval. They can’t agree on the fees.
“Kelsy wants to go to Scotland. The club wants 12M and Rangers offers 10.
“I think they’ll reach an agreement.”
If true, the update from Garces will be encouraging to Rangers supporters.
Usually, when a player wants a deal to happen, that is what materialises.
Kevin Kelsy fits the bill for Rangers
The similarities between Kelsy and Youssef Chermiti are clear, but the Venezuelan appears to be more dynamic and a cleaner striker of the ball.
His highlight reel is quite impressive, but that could be said for most players.
Rangers need to get these signings right. The stakes are so high just now, and like Kim Min-su there will be an expectation that comes with an expensive price tag.
Right or wrong, that’s just the way it is at Ibrox.
Hopefully, Rangers’ chase for Kevin Kelsy is heading for a positive conclusion within days.
