When is the transfer deadline in Scotland for Rangers?

Rangers are still preparing new signings and crucial exits ahead of the Scottish transfer deadline.

As things stand, Kevin Kelsy is closing in on a £9 million transfer to Rangers, while Derek McInnes is still keen to land another right-wing option.

A handul of exits are expected, with Nico Raskin, Bojan Miovski, and Lyall Cameron among the players linked with a departure before the window closes.

The Raskin one is an interesting situation as the club are open to a deal, but no acceptable bid has been received yet.

It could be a very late deal, but no replacement is earmarked for Raskin as things stand.

A later surprise could be in store, with the English transfer window closing on Tuesday night at 11pm. Just under two days before business can be concluded in Scotland.

There could be loan options that open up, once the English ‘buying window’ closes.

When does the transfer window close in Scotland?

The Scottish transfer deadline is 5pm on Thursday, September 3.

As detailed above, Rangers and other Scottish clubs will be able to react to possible opportunities in England, if certain players don’t find a move.

After the significant fees dedicated to the Minsu Kim and Kevin Kelsy deals, as well as the damaging European elimination, a loan or two could be the best option to finish the window.

That’s just the reality of the current situation.

Derek McInnes comments on transfer window

After the Aberdeen win on Sunday, Derek McInnes gave the following response when asked about business up to the end of the window:

“I need to pick up on that. I spoke to Jim (Gillespie) yesterday and the recruitment team.

“In terms of outs, I don’t think there’s anything imminent. Certainly, there have not been any offers for Nico (Raskin), if that’s the next question.

“Obviously, it’s normally the last couple of days of the window when things really crank up, so we need to be primed for that.

“In terms of ones coming in, it’s been a while now since Youssef went down against Hibs, so we’re really keen and eager to get the striker in that we want.

“Again, it has taken a bit longer for reasons that aren’t the club’s fault (signing Kelsy), but we all know the importance of bringing in that quality at the top end of the pitch, and I think you saw a wee flavour of that today.”
