Dan Purdy Rangers Exit Confirmed As Ibrox Board Absorb Transfer Duties

Rangers Technical Director Dan Purdy has resigned after 15 months at Ibrox as the club dismantles an Everton-linked recruitment framework ahead of the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old followed former colleague Kevin Thelwell to Glasgow last summer, surviving the sporting director’s November dismissal to oversee 30 signings. His departure marks a further unwinding of that initial scouting structure under the American ownership consortium.

Executive Board Absorb Transfer Duties

Chairman Andrew Cavenagh and deputy Paraag Marathe will now absorb transfer operations alongside Chief Executive Jim Gillespie and Performance Director Stig Inge Bjornebye. This centralises accountability for squad investment directly onto the boardroom and manager Derek McInnes.

Internal scouting duties will be distributed across this existing executive hierarchy, rather than recruiting a direct replacement. This operational reshuffle arrives as the club addresses wider recruitment challenges, recently exposed when a youth prospect chose an immediate senior pathway elsewhere.

Derek McInnes Inherits Reshaped Squad

Purdy departs following a demanding summer window that yielded 14 arrivals and 19 exits. McInnes experienced late frustration before deadline-day reinforcements were secured, leaving a reshaped squad to face a disrupted Celtic preparation in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final this Sunday.

Purdy will complete a formal handover before leaving Ibrox, but the club has advised he will assist the ownership group in other football matters.
