Derek McInnes Backs Bojan Miovski To Lead Depleted Rangers Attack

Rangers manager Derek McInnes has backed Miovski to lead his depleted attack following the striker’s stoppage-time winning goal against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

Long-term injuries to Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti have prompted a tactical reshuffle at Ibrox, providing an unexpected opportunity for the 27-year-old international.

The forward had spent the recent transfer window anticipating a departure before securing a dramatic league victory on Wednesday.

Domestic Scoring Output Reassessed

McInnes highlighted the frontman’s domestic scoring record as a crucial asset for guiding a young attacking unit that includes 22-year-olds Ryan Naderi and Kevin Kelsy.

“But, when you actually strip it back, his goals per minutes in the Premiership is up there with Lawrence Shankland,” the manager told Inside Futbol.

The manager believes the proven top-flight experience will prove vital, easing mounting squad pressure ahead of the upcoming Old Firm derby.

Transfer Window Uncertainty Concluded

Miovski recently announced on social media that he would represent himself going forward after missing out on a summer move.

Speaking to BBC Sport, McInnes welcomed his continued presence.

“But such is the way things change in football, with Youssef and Lawrence’s long-term injury then having Bojan in the building is a godsend for me and something he should take a lot of encouragement from now between now and the end of the season,” McInnes said.

Rangers travel to face Celtic in the Premiership on Sunday 20 September.
