Rangers defender Penrice has warned Celtic that his side possess further levels to reach following a commanding 3-0 League Cup victory.
Manager Derek McInnes deployed the natural left-back in central midfield during the weekend triumph at Ibrox Stadium. This tactical adjustment disrupted the visitors and proved instrumental in reshaping the recent derby narrative.
Speaking to the Glasgow Times, the 27-year-old discussed his form after making the positional shift.
“I definitely think we’ve got more gears to go, but at the same time I’m very wary that it’s one game at a time,” Penrice said.
Repeatable Blueprint For Celtic Park
Rangers travel to Celtic Park this Sunday for a Premiership encounter. The defender believes the visitors are prepared for the away environment, telling BBC Sport that the approaching fixture will be a “very different game” from the cup tie.
“They’ll probably change stuff, we’ll probably change stuff. It’ll be a different game but we’ll go there with the mindset that we’re going to win. That’s what you need to do as a Rangers player, you need to go to these places and win,” he added.
Penrice credited the sense of togetherness within the squad as key to the recent turnaround under McInnes. The tactical flexibility showcased on Sunday provides Rangers with a proven method while restoring a winning derby edge.
