Rangers attacker Minsu Kim has secured his maiden senior international selection after head coach Robert Moreno named the winger in the latest South Korea squad.
The recent arrival helped Derek McInnes secure a commanding Old Firm victory over Celtic at Ibrox before receiving national recognition. Moreno confirmed the tactical flexibility demonstrated across recent club spells cemented his inclusion ahead of four home friendlies.
Ten Match Form Takes Priority
Speaking to The National, Moreno detailed his selection process.
“I selected Kim Min-su based on his performances at his current club, Rangers,” Moreno said.
The Spanish manager evaluated the forward’s broader output, incorporating a recent transfer from Girona and a prior loan spell in Andorra.
“He is an excellent player capable of playing in several attacking roles,” he added.
Moreno maintained that recent form outweighs long-term reputation.
“The criteria for wearing the national team shirt will be not a player’s reputation or past history, but what they show on the pitch,” he stated.
National Team Rebuild Commences
South Korea host Ecuador, Uruguay, Venezuela and Uzbekistan as they rebuild following a group-stage World Cup exit.
The breakthrough selection creates a workload management challenge for McInnes. Rangers face a demanding return to domestic action with a Scottish Premiership rematch against Celtic on Sunday.
