Rangers forward Kyle Glasgow has earned his maiden Scotland Under-21 selection following a prolific start to his co-operative loan spell at League One side Alloa Athletic.
The 16-year-old left-footed attacker has contributed three goals and as many assists for Alloa manager Andy Graham. By utilising the Scottish FA’s flexible framework, the teenager secures vital lower-tier match experience while remaining eligible for the Rangers Under-19 squad. This accelerated progress highlights Derek McInnes’ youth integration strategy, providing a positive boost as the first team look to exploit Celtic’s recent disarray.
Glasgow signed his first professional contract at Ibrox earlier this year despite interest from England. Speaking to the Rangers Review, Graham praised the teenager’s maturity. “He may only be 16, but he’s got the character of an adult for sure. He’s got the mindset; that’s the most important thing,” Graham said.
Senior Duo Retain International Places
The youth recognition arrives alongside senior inclusions for Ibrox teammates Findlay Curtis and Liam Kelly. Both players retain their places in the national setup under new Scotland head coach Sébastien Pocognoli ahead of an extended autumn international window. The lengthy break affords McInnes valuable domestic respite as he works on a set-piece coaching rethink.
Pocognoli succeeded Steve Clarke following the 2026 World Cup and will oversee upcoming matches against Slovenia, Switzerland, and North Macedonia. Left-back James Penrice missed out on a squad place despite a strong start to his Ibrox career. Rangers return to domestic action against Celtic in the Premiership on Sunday 20 September.
