Mikey Moore Rangers return mooted as Tottenham weigh loan decision

There are few players generating as much excitement at Ibrox right now as Tottenham loanee Mikey Moore.

The young English winger has become a favourite at Ibrox, his forward-focused drives with the ball and skill allowing him to establish himself as an important figure for Danny Rohl, who has helped transform the playmaker.

In a squad often lambasted for being bereft of creativity, the presence of Moore, who even at his young age is a player who gets fans off their seats, has been a much-needed boost to the Gers forward line.

The winger’s tally of five goals and three assists underline the impact he has already made during his loan spell, while his pace and direct style have quickly made him a fan favourite at Ibrox.

Supporters have already begun chanting his name during matches as his confidence continues to grow in Glasgow after a tough start under Russell Martin.

Loan extension possibility emerges

Rangers fans would love to see Moore remain at the club beyond the current campaign, and another loan could be possible.

Tottenham are keen to ensure their highly rated youngster continues to receive regular first-team football as he develops.

Moore already holds a unique place in Spurs history after becoming the youngest player to start a Premier League match for the club and signed a long-term contract extension with them on the same day as he completed his loan to Ibrox.

However, if regular minutes in Tottenham’s first team are not guaranteed next season, a return to Rangers could emerge as a realistic option.

This, however, depends on Spurs surviving in the English Premier League – with the Whites facing a shock relegation.

Moore enjoying life in Glasgow

For his part, Moore has spoken positively about his experience in Scotland and the trust shown in him by Rohl.

“It’s been nice to play consistently and get into a rhythm,” he said earlier this season.

“Up here it’s a different challenge to where I was before. Physically and mentally, it’s developed me loads because the standard of football is very high.”

While the winger has insisted nothing has been decided regarding his future, the focus remains firmly on Rangers push in the closing weeks of the season.

Behind the scenes, though, discussions around his development and next steps are already beginning.

Rangers becoming attractive loan destination

Rangers are also gaining a reputation across Europe as a strong destination for young players seeking first-team opportunities.

Recent seasons have seen the club successfully develop several loanees, including Malik Tillman and Abdallah Sima, who sealed big money moves away from their parent clubs after spells in Govan.

The progress of Moore this season has only strengthened that reputation, while the club’s record with emerging talent has also been highlighted following Hamza Igamane’s move to Lille and his impressive start in France before injury.

For players on the fringes at major clubs, Rangers are increasingly viewed as an ideal environment to gain experience and develop at a high level.
