- Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh has increased season ticket prices for next season
- He explained it’s purely to improve the transfer budget to make the squad better
- We have identified three positions on the pitch that need improvement.
Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh has increased season ticket prices to try to improve the quality on the pitch.
As of today, season ticket renewals are now open and will remain open until April 22nd.
The chairman announced that season ticket prices will rise by 6.5% across the adult and concession categories.
The rise is in line with the current rate of inflation, so the club doesn’t have to decrease the money spent on the squad.
Cavenagh stated that the rising ticket prices will be directly reinvested in the club’s transfer budget to enhance the team.
The club is freezing all juvenile season ticket prices, ensuring the next generation of fans can still get through the turnstiles.

Rangers Chairman comments
Cavenagh explained, “We are not asking supporters to do all the heavy lifting.”
“We are raising £16m of additional capital through a new share issue, effective immediately.”
“The capital will be used to support player acquisitions and other club needs.”
“Increasing the revenue and capital is only part of the path to allocating more resources to the men’s first team.”
“If we are going to ask supporters to pay more for tickets, we have an obligation to spend those funds wisely.”
There is no question that the Gers have had a troublesome season in the cups, losing twice to Celtic domestically.
In Europe, Rangers struggled to compete against tougher opposition, finishing 32nd after picking up four points.
With season tickets rising, the new ownership group needs to focus on specific areas of the pitch to drastically improve the team.
Where they need to improve
Fullbacks
One of the areas that needs revamping the most is the fullback position, with at least three expected to leave.
Captain James Tavernier could be on his way out, with Max Aarons and Jayden Meghoma not expected to be retained.
Dujon Sterling hasn’t proved he can be a worthy Tavernier replacement, leaving Tuur Rommens the only certain starter.
Central midfield
This is the position on the pitch that is most likely to see sales, with Mo Diomande and Nico Raskin potentially out the door.
Raskin will play a huge part for Belgium at the World Cup, putting him in the shop window.
I think Tochi Chukwuani and Connor Barron will remain, but the club is dying out for a Steven Davis/Barry Ferguson-esque player and leader.
Attacking midfield/wingers
This is the position the club needs to focus heavily on, with most players underperforming this season.
Andreas Skov Olsen hasn’t proved to be the player we thought he was going to be, leaving the board with tough decisions to make.
Motherwell’s Elijah Just must be a player to consider after his remarkable season in the SPFL.

It’s good that the board wants to heavily invest in the squad, but the recruitment must be right to make an impact.
