Why Danny Rohl must attempt to secure the signature of Motherwell star Elijah Just

  • Motherwell’s Elijah Just is attracting interest from Scotland and England
  • He’s been one of the most exciting wingers in the Premiership this season
  • Just would fit tremendously into Danny Rohl’s current Rangers system

Rangers have joined the race with Celtic and English clubs for the signature of Motherwell attacker Elijah Just.

Just has been one of the standout players in the Premiership, helping Motherwell to fourth spot in the league.

The New Zealand international is a dynamic attacker who can play off either flank or centrally.

Danny Rohl’s team has missed a consistent creator who can operate between the lines and create clear-cut chances.

The Gers have plenty of big transfer decisions to make in the summer, especially over the future of Andreas Skov Olsen.

Rohl needs Scottish Premiership-proven attackers if they are to challenge on all fronts next season.

Just will cost between £1.5 million and £2 million, a bargain compared to foreign exports from other leagues.

Can Elijah Just be the missing piece to elevate Rohl’s attack?

The statistical impact

As of March 2026, the New Zealand international has been one of the most prominent players in the league.

In 28 league matches this season, Just has produced seven goals and six assists, a far better output than the Gers’ attacking players.

He’s created 39 chances for his team, with 10 being big chances that directly led to a shot.

On the ball, Just is a player who likes to take people on, recording 40 successful dribbles past his opponents.

Rohl likes attackers who press from the front and win the ball back high up the pitch.

The Motherwell star would fit perfectly in his philosophy, making 115 defensive recoveries and winning the ball back 14 times in the final third.

He averages roughly 1.7 chances created and 2.8 shots per 90 minutes.

For a team like Rangers that often faces a low block, having a winger who isn’t afraid to pull the trigger is vital.

Versatility and transfer factors

Just is naturally left-footed but often deployed on the right, allowing him to cut inside.

It gives him the option to link with an onrushing full-back or the striker to then carry on his run.

He also can play as the number 10, a position that needs to be filled under Danny Rohl’s stewardship.

Thelo Aasgaard has struggled to live up to the mark, while Mikey Moore could be going back to Tottenham in the summer

The other reality for Rangers is that Skov Olsen is available to buy for nearly £9 million from Wolfsburg in the summer.

The Danish international has not lived up to the bill at Ibrox, so the Gers could look elsewhere.

Just already understands the physical demands of the SPFL but brings a level of technical flair that is rare outside the Old Firm.

He would cost a fraction of the price and would still deliver a better output than Olsen.

Elijah Just has been one of the standout players in the Premiership this season, attracting interest from all over.

The Gers clearly have a consistency problem from their current crop of wingers and attacking players.

Just offers tactical flexibility across the attack and has the numbers to back up his strong performances for Motherwell.
