- Danny Rohl is set to jet his Rangers side off to Spain for a warm weather training camp ahead of the split.
- Rangers finally offload winger Rabbi Matondo with winger agreeing Norweigen contract.
- Danilo has been touted for a summer return to Ibrox after a poor start in the Netherlands.
Rangers will jet off to Spain ahead of their post-split Premiership fixtures to try and gain an advantage over rivals Hearts and Celtic.
The trip will commence the week starting 13 April, which would leave five games remaining.
The warm-weather camp will take place on the week of the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
Rangers are not in action after their exit on penalties to Celtic at Ibrox in the quarter final.
Hearts are also out of the cup and will head to La Manga during the same week as Celtic face St Mirren at Hampden Park.
The club are yet to confirm the location within Spain for their own camp.
Rangers finally offload forgotten winger
Rangers have finally managed to offload forgotten winger Rabbi Matondo from his lucrative Rangers contract.
The 25-year-old winger has agreed a deal with Norwegian side SK Brann on a free transfer with Rangers able to receive a percentage of any future sale of the player.
He departs Ibrox after four seasons in which he netted eight goals in 70 appearances.
In a statement released online Rangers said:
“We can today confirm Rabbi Matondo has joined Norwegian side SK Brann on a permanent deal.
“The 25-year-old Welsh international made 70 appearances for the club after joining in the summer of 2022, scoring eight times for the Light Blues.
“Everyone at Rangers wishes Rabbi the best of luck in his future endeavours.”
Striker returns to Ibrox early
Bojan Miovski has returned to Rangers early after North Macedonia’s elimination from the World Cup playoffs.
The striker came on as a second-half substitute as his nation went down 4-0 to Denmark.
He will play no part in their friendly with the Republic of Ireland.
Goce Sedloski, manager of Macedonia, has slammed the forward’s commitment to his country.
“If someone says they don’t want to play for us, it’s not me they are letting down, it’s their own country,” he explained.
“I don’t see any reason for anyone to be angry because they didn’t start.”
Sedloski however, suggested that the door isn’t permanently shut to a return to the national fold for the former Aberdeen man.
He said: “I would also add that the door is not closed to anyone in the future. But I make the decisions.”
His early return offers him the opportunity to impress ahead of the run-in.
Danilo unlikely to depart
According to Voetbal International journalist Sander Janssen, NEC are unlikely to pursue a permanent deal for Danilo Pereira da Silva this summer.
While no immediate decision is required, the indications suggest a move will not materialise.
Via social media, Janssen wrote: “NEC doesn’t have to make a decision about Danilo just now.
“But looking at his performances, it doesn’t seem likely. Who knows what he will show in the rest of the season.”
The 26-year-old has found opportunities limited in the Netherlands since arriving in January.
He has failed to score in his first five competitive matches since his return to the low countries.
He did offer some hope of a recovery, netting a hat-trick against Roda in a friendly match.
League Two club to welcome back influential Rangers loanee
League Two strugglers Dumbarton are set to welcome back Rangers kid Alexander Smith this weekend as they look to secure safety from the relegation playoffs.
He has been with the Scotland U19 squad and missed their draw with Forfar at the weekend.
He assisted a last-minute equaliser against Stirling Albion on his debut on February 28.
The 17-year-old midfielder has since gone on to provide two further assists since his debut to help Frank McKeown’s side go seven unbeaten.
Speaking ahead of his Scotland duties he said: “It has only been a few weeks but the move to Dumbarton has been great. I have really enjoyed it, getting regular first-team football.
“It has been everything I hoped it would be. The manager, staff, fans and all the players have been really welcoming and helped me to really settle.
“It has helped that the team has also been doing well, which, for me, is the most important thing.”
