Rangers remaining fixtures – all you need to know

  • Rangers remaining fixtures will be confirmed in full after the Falkirk game.
  • Danny Rohl’s side have two remaining regular season games, before a free week.
  • The Top 6 can be confirmed this weekend, then all that remains is the order in which Rangers will play the other sides, and when.

Rangers remaining fixtures resume on Saturday when Dundee United visit Ibrox in a crucial SPFL Premiership encounter.

Following the recent international break, the next burst of action takes Danny Rohl’s team up to the split with the game against the Arabs, followed by the trip to Falkirk for the last of the regular season.

The Rangers squad will then embark on the much-discussed Spanish training camp, with the free week emanating due to the Scottish Cup semi-final ties taking place on the weekend of 18/19 April

When are Rangers remaining fixtures announced?

At present, we know the two games up to the split.

Then Rangers will have a free-week before the home straight post-split.

We don’t yet know the order of the games, but the Top 6 opponents and game dates are more or less set.

Going into this weekend, all that is left to be confirmed is which team will finish in sixth place, and that can be determined at Ibrox- where John Beaton will be the man in the middle.

Dundee United must win their last two games and hope that Falkirk lose both, if they are to make the cut.

The odds are against that outcome for Jim Goodwin’s side, meaning they are likely to be resigned to a Bottom 6 berth.

Rangers are set to be joined by Hearts, Celtic, Motherwell, Hibernian and most likely Falkirk for the SPFL Premiership split

When do the post-split games take place?

While we await the confirmation of the Top 6 sides for the climax to the SPFL Premiership season, we already know when the games will take place.

Game 34 – 25/26 April

Game 35 – 2/3 May

Game 36 – 9/10 May

Game 37 – 12/13 May (midweek)

Game 38 – Saturday 16 May (12:30)

Will Rangers be home or away in the post-split games?

This season, Rangers are due to have two home games and three away fixtures to finish the season.

If Rangers are to prevail in the SPFL title race, they will need to do it the hard way, with trips to Parkhead and Tynecastle on the cards.

The anomaly of the fixture list and the need to balance home and away games (19/19) means the Gers will be playing away for a third time this season at either Motherwell, Hibs, or Falkirk.

The devil will be in the detail.

When are the remaining SPFL games confirmed?

As stated above, there’s a good chance that the pre-split positioning of all clubs will be confimed this weekend.

Despite that, the SPFL previously communicated that the final five fixtures for all clubs would be confirmed after Game 33.

This is the usual arrangement, but hopefully discussions between the league, broadcasters and authorities can be tied up early, if things are set following Sunday’s games.
