- Nasser Djiga is expected to return to Wolves to be assessed over pre-season.
- The Express and Star hasn’t ruled out a permanent exit for the Burkina Faso defender.
- Wolves are likely to want £8-10m if a sale is sanctioned.
Further defensive upheaval is on the cards for Rangers after an update on Nasser Djiga.
The Wolverhampton based Express and Star has reported that the Burkina Faso international is expected to return to Molineaux in the summer, to be assessed ahead of the new season.
With the Midlands club looking likely to return to the Championship, it is no surprise that Nasser Djiga will be part of their plans for next year.
Nasser Djiga is expected to return
“Nasser Djiga is expected to return to Wolves this summer to be assessed ahead of next season, the Express & Star understands.
While Rob Edwards will run the rule over the 23-year-old, nothing is guaranteed.
Given his progress in recent months since returning from AFCON (where he did not feature), Rangers should maintain an interest in the pacey central defender.
Whether there is scope for another loan agreement or a permanent deal, that remains to be seen.
The Express and Star detailed that if Wolves move toward offloading the player, they will look to recoup as much of the £10 million they spent to sign him, 18 months ago.
That figure, plus a reported £70k weekly wage, would be significant obstacles toward a permanent deal at Ibrox.

Nasser Djiga has a crucial role to play across the final six games of Rangers season, beginning tomorrow at Falkirk.
He is likely to start the game alongside Manny Fernandez, who has earned rave reviews from international team mate, Alex Iwobi.
Djiga currently has the platform to impress potential suitors, and his progress is being monitored in his homeland, at a time of mixed fortunes with the national team.
With their loan deals up at the end of the season, Rangers will bid farewell to Nasser Djiga, as well as Jayden Meghoma and Derek Cornelius.
Club stalwart James Tavernier is also in the last weeks of his contract, with no extension expected as things stand.
When you add the expected interest in Manny Fernandez to the above situation, it reflects the extent of defensive upheaval that lies ahead for Rangers this summer.
