  • Joel Piroe would be the goalscorer that Rangers crave
  • Rangers and Leeds United share the same 49ers ownership
  • Here’s how the Leeds United man would help Danny Rohl next season

Joel Piroe could be the perfect addition to the Rangers’ forward line ahead of a highly anticipated summer window.

Though it’s all rumours at this point, Rangers and Leeds are both owned by the 49ers’ ownership group.

Piroe isn’t starting consistently at Leeds while they battle to stay in the Premier League.

The striker, who’s proven to be one of the best Championship strikers this century, is entering the prime of his career.

The Gers have big ambitions under the ownership group, and Piroe will be the perfect summer signing.

Can Danny Rohl lure him in to try and win domestic trophies and play in Europe?

Piroe is a proven 20-goal player.

Piroe is currently a peripheral figure in the Premier League, having played less than 230 minutes of action.

This season isn’t a reflection of his ability, because when he’s trusted to lead the line, he’s a trusted weapon.

Rangers fans crave a clinical finisher.

Youssef Chermiti is the only player to score double digits in the league this season, registering 11 in 25 games.

Piroe registered 24 and 20 goals in successive seasons for Swansea City in the Championship before moving to Leeds.

Last season, he fired Leeds to the Premier League, scoring 19 goals and winning the Golden Boot.

The Gers have proven they can share the goals amongst themselves, with everyone having an impact.

However, a striker of Piroe’s calibre wouldn’t go amiss if they were to challenge on all fronts next season.

Why does his style fit Ibrox

Piroe isn’t just a target man; he’s a forward who can play off a focal point and as a number 10.

In Danny Rohl’s current Rangers system, he could play off Bojan Miovski or Youssef Chermiti, dropping into pockets of space to link play.

The Gers have struggled for consistent performers in the number 10 role, with Thelo Aasgaard playing inconsistently.

Rohl likes to operate a 4-2-2-2 or 4-2-3-1 formation, and Piroe could play a leading role in both systems.

The Gers still struggle to break down teams that play in a low block and aim to frustrate the forward line.

Piroe is an elite box ghost. He doesn’t just stand against a centre-back; he moves horizontally to disrupt defensive lines.

In his Golden Boot season, a large percentage of his goals (around 70%) came from one-touch finishes.

He provides the clinical edge that converts Rohl’s high possession into goals.

With Rangers having shared ownership with a Premier League side, the club must use that to its advantage.

Piroe is a proven goalscorer and has the technical ability to operate in different Rohl systems.

The ownership group wants to invest in the first team squad, and the club is clearly lacking a 20-goal player.

Piroe is coming into the prime of his career, and the prospect of trophies and European football must be tempting.
