- John McGlynn revealed scouts from many clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord, were present at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday.
- The Bundesliga side have already watched Manny Fernandez, while PSV Eindhoven have tracked Youssef Chermiti.
- The interest is likely to escalate, given the progress of both players
Rangers are on alert for a high-level enquiry from Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
It is already established that Die Werkself have been monitoring Manny Fernandez, while PSV Eindhoven are tracking Youssef Chermiti.
After Sunday’s massive 6-3 victory over Falkirk, Bairns boss John McGlynn revealed that a host of scouts were watching the action unfold.
Specifically, he detailed that Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord were represented in the stands at the Falkirk Stadium.
They witnessed a classic as Rangers roared back to secure a thrilling 6-3 victory.
What did John McGlynn say?
The information was revealed on the Scottish Football Social Club, the podcast offshoot from Premier Sports.
“When I got the list of scouts in that were coming to our game yesterday, I said ‘we must have arrived, guys,’ joked McGlynn.
“We had Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord watching our game yesterday, he revealed.
“That’s the first foreign scouts I think I’ve ever had watching our team.
“They might have been watching the Rangers team as well, right enough!
“There were a number of scouts, much more scouts there yesterday than there have been. A lot of English clubs, well-recognised, prominent English clubs.”
What Rangers players were Leverkusen and Feyenoord watching?
The answer is unclear. We don’t know for sure.
However, it is most likely that Chermiti and Fernandez would have come under the microscope given previous interest and their profiles.
Both players are young, emerging, and capable of operating in a stronger European league.
Another consideration is that Nico Raskin’s performance won’t have gone unnoticed.
Like the rest of the Gers side, he turned around a terrible first half to dominate the game after the break.
It was a statement of intent, and hopefully a sign of what is to follow over the final five games of the season.
John McGlynn also fended off comments of possible interest in Falkirk’s Barney Stewart.
His reputation is growing, just as the number of Scots plying their trade on the continent is increasing, but it’s probably a bit too early for the striker to be making such a big move.
Not yet anyway.
As for Rangers, the more scouts that are in attendance, the more it means the club’s assets are performing and the team is progressing.
Win, win all round.
