- Rangers are seven matches unbeaten in their post-split openers
- The Gers’ record stands at six wins and one draw
- Run includes a victory against Motherwell
Rangers welcome Motherwell to Ibrox in their opening post-split match of the season.
It is another must-win clash for Danny Rohl’s men as three points are required if they are to keep their title bid alive.
The Gers are winless against Jens Berthel Askou’s men this season as they aim to make it 17 league matches without defeat.
However, it is not the only record that Danny Rohl’s men must protect.
Rangers are seven matches unbeaten in their post-split openers
When it comes to post-split openers, Rangers have not lost in the last seven seasons, excluding the 2019/20 campaign that was curtailed due to the pandemic.
The run includes a 2-1 and 3-1 win over Hearts, 2-1 victory against Hibernian, 3-1 win over Motherwell, 1-0 victory over Aberdeen as well as a 2-1 win and 2-2 draw against St Mirren.
This shows that the Ibrox club have started the split fixtures strongly in the past but what sets this season out from the rest is that Rangers are engulfed in a battle for the title.
Therefore, failing to add another win to this list is not an option.
What is Rangers’ history against Motherwell in split matches?
The Ibrox club’s record against the Steelmen this season, is not great, to say the least.
However, history has been kind to Rangers when they have faced the Fir Park club in the split.
As already mentioned, the last split match between the two in 2022 ended in a win for the Gers which has been preceded by another three wins in 2004, 2005 and 2011.
Meanwhile the matches in 2008, 2010 and 2012 resulted in a share of the spoils.
The overall split matches against Motherwell stands at four wins and three draws.

Rangers’ struggles to get the better of Motherwell this season have been well documented.
But the split is its own mini-league in itself and what happened previously in the season gets thrown out the window.
And the club’s unbeaten record in the split should be enough to instil belief that Rangers can get the job done.
