Rangers have confirmed unexpected transfer activity with Kieran Wright joining Kilmarnock on a seven-day emergency loan deal.
The goalkeeper performs a training and backup role for Rangers, working closely with Jack Butland and Liam Kelly, as well as top youth prospect Rydnn McGuire.
Wright last played competitive football at Airdrie last season, making 24 appearances for the Diamonds across the Championship and different cup competitions.
He now answers the call from Neil McCann, who will know the player from his time as a coach working under Barry Ferguson, this time last year.
Kilmarnock thank Rangers for their swift assistance
Killie welcomed the short-term addition to their squad with a brief official statement:
“Kilmarnock FC can confirm the signing of Kieran Wright on an emergency loan from Rangers.
“The goalkeeper has joined the club on a seven-day emergency loan pending league approval.
“Kieran, 27, has previously gained experience out on loan at the likes of Partick Thistle, Alloa Athletic, Livingston, Dumbarton and Airdrieonians.
“He will wear the No.30 jersey during his time at Ayrshire’s finest.
“The club thanks Rangers for their co-operation in allowing the deal to happen smoothly and swiftly.”
