- Danny Rohl held his press conference today ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm
- Manager spoke out about need for consistent performances in matches
- Comments on Naderi and Rommens in preparation for Celtic clash
Danny Rohl has stressed the need for Rangers to deliver a consistent performance ahead of Sunday’s Celtic showdown.
At the press conference at Auchenhowie, Rohl said: “The key is to have the right players to deliver consistently and to deliver the 90 minutes for a good result.”
The German continued by referring to “small details” and called out certain players but mentioned two in particular.
That has perhaps provided a hint into who are in his thoughts to select in the starting lineup against Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the season.
Danny Rohl speaks out on Naderi and Rommens recent absence
Naderi and Rommens were two players that Rohl singled out, stating: “These five games, it’s the small details, having players such as Ryan Naderi and Tuur Rommens not being available.”
The duo were signings made by Rohl in the January transfer window and only made their long awaited returned from injury in the defeat to Hearts.
Naderi was brought on for Nico Raskin for the final 15 minutes at Tynecastle as was Rommens who replaced Dujon Sterling.
It is clear that Rohl was frustrated to have had both those players missing for the run-in and their appearances off the bench on Monday is a good sign ahead of the final three matches.
Will Rohl start the striker and left-back for Celtic showdown?
It is vital that Rangers return to winning ways and prove that they have the mentality to recover from setbacks, especially as they are all but out the title race.
The onus is on Rohl to select the players best capable of delivering.
Rommens and Naderi both featured in the starting lineups in the Gers last two meetings against Celtic, so both have minutes under their belt against the derby rivals.
They also looked to be getting into their stride prior to their spells on the sidelines with Rommens scoring the only goal in March’s victory over St Mirren.
Meanwhile, Naderi opened Rangers’ account in their 4-2 win against Dundee United at Ibrox in April.
At that time, the two players were increasingly looking likely to be key in Rohl’s preparations post-split.
They will be itching to return to form and Rohl may well give them the opportunity to do so by adding them to Sunday’s lineup.

Danny Rohl was clear in his message that Rangers “need to finish the season the best we can.”
The pressure is on the players to rise to this demand.
Should Naderi and Rommens start on Sunday and deliver a strong performance not only would it be the perfect full-time return but potentially cement them as key players for Rohl ahead of next season.
