Rangers are said to be edging closer to an agreement with PSV Eindhoven over the transfer of Couhaib Driouech.
£6 million is already ‘on the table’ and not far off the tipping point to make the 24-year-old Dutch-born Moroccan the tenth summer signing at Ibrox.
What is encouraging is that reports in Glasgow and Eindhoven from reputable sources are along the same lines, which points toward completion of a deal.
However, there are other clubs waiting in the background, so Rangers will be keen to get this one wrapped up as soon as possible.
Rangers closing in on Couhaib Driouech
Tonight, the Rangers Review’s Chris Jack reported that: “Rangers are hopeful of striking a deal for Couhaib Driouech as talks continue with PSV.”
That comes after Eindhoven’s Dagblad ‘PSV Watcher’ Rik Elfrink posted on X earlier this evening detailing:
“Rangers FC offers more than seven million euros for PSV forward Driouech.”
The asking price has been suggested as between €8-8.5m (around £7m).
Rangers need quality additions now
After the 2-1 loss to Jagiellonia on Thursday evening, it is clear that Rangers are badly lacking the quality required for the upcoming season.
Derek McInnes isn’t happy with what he is seeing, and no wonder.
He has a massive task ahead, to shape this Rangers team to the level required for the current and upcoming challenges on all fronts.
On the prospect of signing Couhaib Driouech and others, the Rangers boss said ahead of the game in Poland:
“So we’re currently looking at several wide players. These talks and conversations are on-going.
“I don’t really want to be too specific on any one player but a few reports recently have been accurate and we’re keen to just bring the best we can.
“Obviously the owner, Andrew Cavenagh has been really supportive. We want to try and be as ambitious as we can.
“In certain areas of the pitch we want to make sure we try and bring as good a quality as we can. We just need to see how this all lands for us with several targets. Obviously we’re not going to sign everyone we go for.
“But if we do get a bid accepted for any of the ones that’s been mentioned and a couple that haven’t been mentioned, then I’ll be be delighted to get these players in as soon as possible.”
