Youssef Chermiti’s Rangers future is under fresh scrutiny, with the striker linked with a summer move away from Ibrox.
According to Turkish commentator and journalist Haber Sari Kirmizi, and relayed by Sport Witness, Galatasaray have ‘finalised’ their approach to sign Chermiti.
The Portuguese U21 international is wanted as part of a triple signing, with Gala boss Okan Buruk very keen on the former Everton man.
Chermiti is certainly attracting headlines in Turkey, with another report claiming Besiktas are primed to launch a £25 million bid, ahead of Galatasaray.
What a Youssef Chermiti exit would mean
Nothing has been confirmed, and Rangers have not commented, but any sale would leave Derek McInnes short of firepower just as his rebuild takes shape.
Chermiti has been a talking point at Ibrox all summer, with Lyon among the clubs previously credited with an interest and his valuation a recurring theme in the club’s planning.
With the window open until 31 August, the Gers still have incomings of their own in their sights.
Losing a first-team forward at this stage would force McInnes straight back into the market for a replacement, adding another layer to an already busy summer at Ibrox, with the manager keen to strengthen rather than weaken his forward line before the deadline.
For now it remains as speculation rather than a done deal, and no fee has been reported. Supporters will want clarity quickly, because if the report has legs, Rangers face another piece of crucial business to manage this month.
