Mohamed Diomande Completes Rangers Exit as Çorum Move Confirmed

Mohamed Diomande has officially completed his move from Rangers to Turkish side Arca Çorum FK, bringing the midfielder’s two-and-a-half-year spell in Glasgow to an end.

The confirmation completes a deal that had been building for days.

Read Rangers reported earlier this week that Çorum were closing in on the midfielder, after a reported bid in the region of £4.79m landed at Ibrox.

Neither club has officially disclosed a final fee, as is the standard line nowadays, but the figures won’t be far off the mark.

What Diomande’s exit means for McInnes

Mohamed Diomande arrived in early 2024 and leaves as one of the longer-serving members of a squad transformed over the summer.

On paper anyway.

The Ivorian’s departure makes some space in a crowded midfield pack and hands Derek McInnes funds to keep reshaping his team, given the urgent need.

With Nicolas Raskin’s future also the subject of continued speculation, the make-up of the Rangers midfield come September remains an open question.

For now, supporters will wish Diomande well in Turkey, and watch closely to see how the Gers reinvest.

Risk with Diomande sale

Some will be surprised that Mohamed Diomande has been allowed to leave now.

Over pre-season and in the three competitive games so far, Diomande has featured heavily.

Now he is gone, and obviously will play no part against Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Europa League decider.

The void needs to be filled and collectively his former Rangers teammates need to get the job done to secure progression in Europe.
