Rangers links to Vivcharenko and Bajraktarevic don’t stand to scrutiny

Sankhoun Diawara in action, a centre-back target being monitored by Rangers

Rangers have been linked with interest in Dynamo Kyiv’s Kostyantyn Vivcharenko and PSV Eindhoven’s Esmir Bajraktarevic, but the tenuous links don’t stand up to scrutiny.

The claim on the former was even amplified by the Glasgow Times, but these moves look like non-runners for good reason.

Another day, another round of transfer speculation.

That will be the case for another 10 days until the window closes in Scotland.

Kostyantyn Vivcharenko linked to Rangers

This link emerged from Transfer Feed, suggesting the left-back was on a wanted list at Ibrox, but how can that be when James Penrice has just joined the club to compete with Tuur Rommens?

In addition, it is widely accepted that Rangers want to create a pathway for the emergence of Ashton Scally, so it’s difficult to understand why another player in this position would be pursued.

As detailed by the Glasgow Times:

“Transfer Feed reports that the Ibrox club have identified Vivcharenko as a possible long-term signing, rather than a temporary answer to the injury situation.”

We really can’t see this one happening.

Esmir Bajraktarevic wanted by Rangers

Who thinks PSV Eindhoven will be doing business with Rangers any time join, after the Couhaib Driouech debacle?

Even then, the original source for this ‘link’ clearly states the suggestion is based on its data, as a working suggestion for the player.

Then it grows arms and legs online, and gets spread by a Bosnian site, given the player’s nationality.

Rangers transfer news updates will continue to emerge, but there’s nothing we can see happening with this duo for the reasons outlined, above.
