Rangers are considering a move for Rodez striker Ibrahima Baldé as they look to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Rangers are said to have identified the 23-year-old French forward as a key target.
No formal offer has been submitted yet, but the club may move soon, says the usually reliable Tavolieri.
How can that be, given the chase for Kelvin Kelsy, which appears to be close to completion?
In Youssef Chermiti’s absence, Rangers currently have three strikers. Kelsy would make it four.
Even if Bojan Miovski is moved on, is there space to accommodate another striker? That appears doubtful.
Who is Ibrahima Baldé?
Ibrahima Baldé, a former RC Lens academy product and France U17 international, joined Rodez on a free transfer in 2024.
He has since scored 24 goals in 68 appearances for the Ligue 2 club and is contracted until June 2028.
He has started the 2026/27 season strongly, with four goals in just three Ligue 2 matches, including a hat-trick in a 5-2 win at Nantes.
Manager Derek McInnes is closing in on significant transfer deals to strengthen Rangers beyond the closure of the transfer window.
Having already agreed deals for Kevin Kelsy and Kim Min-su, the Gers are keen to go further, with another couple of arrivals in the offing.
Keep an eye on outgoings involving Nico Raskin and Djeidi Gassama, with both needing to be replaced if they depart this week.
