Rangers have expanded their administrative infrastructure with legal trainee Charley MacKay joining on secondment from Burness Paull LLP amid an ongoing board restructuring led by Andrew Cavenagh.
MacKay brings four years of legal experience to Ibrox, having previously held roles at Citizens Advice Scotland. The trainee solicitor officially arrived last week and will integrate directly into the existing corporate framework.
Expanding The Corporate Legal Setup
Operations will be overseen by Legal Director and Company Secretary Graham Horsman, with MacKay working closely alongside Legal Counsel Benjamin McGlinchey. The exact length of the secondment remains fluid, potentially lasting anywhere from six months to two years.
The addition marks a deliberate shift by the hierarchy to bolster administrative capacity following recent backroom departures. Adjustments have already affected the coaching staff and recruitment department, a process unfolding as Derek McInnes navigates a critical phase of the season following debate over a recent Rangers penalty decision.
Broader Governance Upgrades Continue
Strengthening off-pitch compliance and transfer governance aligns with the wider modernisation effort currently sweeping the club. The upgraded corporate framework aims to streamline future player contract negotiations and administrative duties.
This unit operates separately from ongoing squad planning as the club monitors potential pre-contract market opportunities ahead of the winter window.
McInnes will return his focus to domestic matters when Rangers host St. Mirren in the Premiership on Wednesday evening.
