Would Tyrese Campbell be a good fit at Rangers?

  • Rangers renew interest in Tyrese Campbell
  • The Gers tried to sign the Sheffield United striker in 2024
  • Rangers need to bolster their attacking line-up ahead of next season

Rangers are again interested in signing Sheffield United attacker Tyrese Campbell from the EFL Championship.

The club had a heavy interest in signing Campbell after cutting ties with Stoke City in 2024.

Since then, Campbell’s been integral to Sheffield United’s attack, reaching the Championship playoff final in 2025.

His club has been dismal by their standards this season, sitting around the relegation spots for most of the season.

Campbell’s contract will run out in 2027, therefore potentially making him available this summer.

At 26, Campbell is at a pivotal point in his career, with his prime just around the corner.

Chris Wilder has previously blocked transfers coming in for the attacker due to his importance within the squad.

Is Campbell a good fit?

Being a Stoke City fan myself, I saw Campbell play 164 times for the Potters, netting 36 goals.

On his day, Campbell can run a defence all over the place.

He possesses power, speed, and a clinical edge that very few players naturally have in their arsenal.

When he’s off it, he’s quite simply a bystander, someone who watches the ball go past him and can give very little effort.

The key to Campbell’s success is finding himself in good positions to score goals and win football matches regularly.

Last season, he netted 11 goals and produced two assists in 36 league games.

This season, he’s produced six goals and three assists in a struggling Sheffield United team.

Playing for Rangers

With the new investment expected from Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh, the Gers can afford to bring in options.

With Campbell expected to be out of contract in 2027, the Gers could get Campbell for a discounted fee.

The Rangers’ frontline or wingers haven’t been exactly prolific this season, with loan star Mikey Moore being the standout.

If the Gers are to be dangerous on all fronts, Campbell could be an excellent impact option in the frontline.

He can play across the front three and has the capabilities to play in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2 formation.

Right-footed players dominate the Rangers’ attack; Campbell would provide a much-needed left-footed option.

Campbell has suffered persistent injuries and has struggled to stay fit in recent seasons.

However, if he stays fit and plays in a team that’s winning, Campbell can be a huge asset for Danny Rohl’s side.

In my opinion, when Tyrese Campbell is fit, he’s a huge attacking asset for Rangers in the coming seasons.

Campbell is about to enter his prime, and at a reduced price, it should be a no-brainer to sign him.
