  • Miovski set for Rangers exit as club targets Zurich striker Philippe Keny
  • Fringe players struggle internationally while transfer plans begin to take shape
  • Rangers Women chase fourth straight trophy ahead of Glasgow City clash

Bojan Miovski’s spell back in Scotland may already be coming to an end as Rangers eye Zurich striker Philippe Keny ahead of the summer transfer window.

Former Aberdeen star Miovski has been on the fringes of the Ibrox first team in recent months with Danny Rohl opting for a front two of Yousef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi.

He had a goal disallowed for offside against his former side in a rare outing last week.

Despite this he does not seem trusted by the German head coach and reports suggest he will be allowed to leave Ibrox in the summer.

Journalist Peter O’Rourke has suggested that his replacement will be the 26-year-old Senegalese forward Keny.

He has 12 goals and two assists for the Swiss side this season – an impressive strike rate that outmatches all of the current strike force at Rangers.

At 6-foot-3 he aligns with the physical presence Rohl has targeted since his arrival in Scotland.

Wrexham and Coventry City are also linked with the powerful forward.

Rangers FC fringe stars fail to make impact

Miovski, along with midfielder Nedim Bajrami featured for their nations last night in World Cup qualifying matches.

He came on as a substitute as North Macedonia were trounced 4-0 by Denmark while Bajrami started in Albania’s 2-1 defeat to Poland.

The midfielder missed a huge chance as his nation were edged out by the Robert Lewandowski inspired Poles.

Forgotten Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo was forced to watch his Wales teammates lose out on penalties to Bosnia from the bench and continued his trend of playing zero minutes of football.

Positively, Oliver Antman started for Finland as they defeated New Zealand in a friendly.

Rangers’ women eye fourth Cup in a row

Rangers’ Women’s side face off against SWPL leaders Glasgow City in the Sky Sports Cup this Sunday.

Leanne Crichton’s side are chasing a fourth-consecutive victory in the competition.

They defeated City 1-0 in the league last weekend to close the gap to five points ahead of the run-in.

Gers captain Nicola Docherty said: “We’re on good form from the last game and we’ll be taking that as using that as confidence for the cup final.”

Her manager Crichton believes the victory over the previously undefeated leaders will “calm the nerves” ahead of the final.

But she was keen to stress that they will need to be at their best again to lift the trophy.

Josh Windass refuses to deny Rangers return links

Former Gers striker Josh Windass was linked with a return to the club in the January window.

Due to his time working with Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday, rumours emerged of a reunion at Ibrox during the winter.

However, no transfer emerged for the now Wrexham player but that hasn’t stopped the question being asked.

When questioned on TalkSport over a potential return Windass shut down the question.

“I don’t know who you heard that off, stop trying to cause trouble on here,” he remarked when asked about the rumours.

Sports Intelligence chief slams Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh

Omar Chaudhuri, who is the Chief Intelligence Officer at Twenty First Group has been critical of comments made by Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh this week.

He has made comparisons to clubs in Europe’s other countries.

This was to show that Rangers spending is not, in his opinion, the key to success in the modern game.

Chaudhuri told the Training Ground Guru podcast that Cavenagh’s comments were “alarming on many levels.

“Rangers should look around, because a revolution is taking place across Northern Europe.

“Clubs with less money than their rivals are winning everywhere, Hearts are top of the Scottish Premiership.

“Clubs that have increased their spending have, on average, achieved no better results. How well you spend is vastly more important than how much you spend.”

This was in response to the Gers chief confirming that the board would launch a £16m share issue at Ibrox to provide additional funds for the summer transfer window.
