Rangers went top of the Premiership table yesterday with a 4-2 win over Dundee United.
Second-placed Hearts travel to Livingston today to face the bottom side, and if they avoid defeat, they will return to the top of the table.
Aasgaard, who scored the third after having a hand in the first two goals for Danny Rohl’s side, said the mood within the squad was very positive.
He said: “The mood is good in the dressing room. We knew we could go top of the league if we won, so that was a big incentive.
“I am enjoying being back on the pitch, it has been a rollercoaster season for me.
“It is about persistence and staying strong. It was brilliant to score; I scored against them last time they were here.
“In games and in training we have a good squad, and we all look forward to the games.
“The manager talks about the games being cup finals, but he said to us after the match that it is all about the next game.
“We have to recover, train well and then we go again.”
Goodwin feels United “played well”
Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin has said he feels his side “played really well on the day” as they lost at Ibrox.
“In the first half I didn’t think there was a great deal between the two teams,” he said.
“We had our chances, Rangers had one or two chances.
“Then the first goal changes the dynamics and it’s a really poor one to concede. My goalkeeper knows he has to do better in that position.”
Despite a goal and two assists for Aasgaard, Goodwin felt midfielder Amar Fatah was the best player on the Ibrox turf.
“Amar has had a great season and I thought he was the best player on the pitch all afternoon,” he said.
“At 2-1 we felt we were very much in the game, we knew Rangers would come flying out of the traps.
“It was important to weather that situation but within six or seven minutes unfortunately we go 3-1 behind.
Matondo strikes back
Former Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has hit back at the “haters” following his move to Norwegian side SK Brann.
“I want to show the haters and the world that there is still a player in me,” he said after his move to the Eliteserien.
“It’s been a tough season for me with injuries and little playing time. When a team like Brann wants to sign me, it’s an interesting offer to look at.
“The more I talked to people at the club, and especially the manager, the more confident I was.”
“You can look at it as a new start. I hope I can stay healthy and show people what I can do on the pitch.”
“Rabbi has had little playing time at Rangers recently, and we hope that together we can get him back on track and unleash his potential.
“We would like to thank Rangers for the good cooperation, where all parties have been concerned with the player’s best interests.
“This was a great opportunity that arose.”
Sakala praises Saudi people
Former Rangers striker Fashion Sakala has become one of the Saudi Pro League’s standout players since his move to the Middle East in 2023.
“I’m very happy from the management to the players at my club; they are doing everything to make sure that I’m happy,” he said.
“[Saudi people] show me love all the time; even when I’m going to the shops, I feel loved by the people of Saudi Arabia. I really appreciate it – I’m Saudi today!”
“Happy Founding Day to Saudi Arabia, a country of big dreams and a country of big vision, I really appreciate all the Saudi Arabian people; they welcomed me so well here. I am having a great time.”
