- Rangers split fixtures were revealed on Tuesday, with the path to Scottish title glory now in sight
- Many fans are aggrieved that Hearts and Rangers are away on the final day, with Celtic hosting the current league leaders.
- The task remains the same. Winning is all that matters. Who will prevail?
After Rangers split fixtures were announced on Tuesday, there has been an inevitable outpouring of opinion and emotion on how the season will end.
Many fans have lashed out at the run of fixtures, selected by the SPFL after talks with the authorities and Sky TV.
Now, it is interesting that the league has opted to pivot from the usual arrangement of giving home advantage to the team leading the table for the last match of the season.
Instead, the third-place side (at the time of writing) has been given a home fixture with the other title contenders on the road.
That could come back to bite the SPFL on the backside but I don’t see that as a conspiracy to aid Celtic.
Six games to go, the best team will win the league
The only advantage that matters is points and there are 18 left to play for.
That was the case before the split fixtures were confirmed and it remains the case.
For the final five games to have any real meaning for Danny Rohl’s men, they need to get the job done against Falkirk on Sunday. This will carry the momentum into the last games.
This shoot-out will be won by the best team over the course of the last SIX fixtures. Or otherwise, the least-worst side who can recover from a stumble or two to seize the opportunity.

For Rangers (or Hearts or Celtic) to put six straight wins together to claim the title, that would be no mean feat.
It would be a deserved success but this season so far tells us that it won’t happen.
As was the case last weekend, all three sides could not grab a win.
That has only happened on the same weekend on one occasion.
The situation was summed up succinctly by David Edgar of Heart and Hand podcast earlier today, as below.
The opponents haven’t changed, the task remains the same.
Now it’s over to the Rangers squad and Danny Rohl to bring the league flag home.
