- Rangers have ten players out of contract this summer
- Seven of those are either goalkeepers or defenders
- The hints that Danny Rohl is aware of this problem
Rangers have two goalkeepers and five defenders out of contract this summer, new statistics have revealed.
The figures stands at 66.7% and 55.6% for the goalkeeping and defending department respectively which is far superior for the midfield and forward area at 14.3% and 28.6%.
Therefore, the evidence provides an insight into where Danny Rohl must pay particularly close attention to as the summer window looms.

The goalkeepers and defenders who are out of contract analysed
In terms of Rangers’ goalkeepers, Liam Kelly and Kieran Wright are both set for conversations with Danny Rohl this summer.
Kelly has featured twice for the Gers’ this season, the 4-2 League Cup victory over Alloa Athletic in August and in February’s 8-0 demolition of Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Wright has not featured at all for the Ibrox club since his return on loan from Airdrieonians last summer, therefore a departure for one or both may well be on the cards.
As for the defenders, it is almost certain that Derek Cornelius will be leaving, so that is one vacancy that will need filled.
Nasser Djiga and Jayden Meghoma are on loan from Wolves and Brentford respectively as is Max Aarons from Bournemouth.
But the most important member on that list is captain James Tavernier and with no indication as yet of a renewal, the speculation continues to grows on whether Rohl is eyeing up a replacement.
The hints that Rohl is ahead of the game with replacements
This issue will be flagged even more at the end of the season, but the signs are there of Rohl’s early homework and the problem being quickly solved.
Dundee defender Luke Graham is reportedly poised to seal a move to Govan as the manager looks to replace those that will be departing.
Another who is believed to be targeted is 20-year-old Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles which could mean a big clear out in the goalkeeping area.
So, it seems that the need to overhaul the backline at Rangers is heading in a positive direction.

Another sign that Danny Rohl is one step ahead of this situation is the talks with Rangers’ chiefs during the Spain training camp this week.
Therefore, the expectation is that any moves for potential targets will be accelerated on the back of those conversations.
And by putting their plans in place now, bar any hiccups, Rangers should be in a strong position for when the window officially opens.
