Manny Fernandez was a worthy inclusion when he was confirmed in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
His progress and impact have been evident over the season, given where he started from, during Rangers’ doomed experiment with Russell Martin.
Manny Fernandez has not only impressed on the domestic front, but he is now a full international player with Nigeria.
However, his award reflects a year like no other, with no other Rangers player in the PFA Scotland selection.
Manny Fernandez recognised by his peers in the SPFL
Even in years when Rangers don’t win anything, there have still been players in the line-up having impressed their peers on the domestic or European stages.
It is crazy to think that Rangers could still win the league, yet only have one player in the PFA side.
And you know what, it’s probably accurate.
That is the type of madcap season we have witnessed and there are another four weeks left.
Jack Butland has played his part, Nico Raskin has been great at times if not consistent, and Tuur Rommens has been a revelation since he arrived in January. Mikey Moore has also been very influential.
A further opportunity lies in store for all of the Rangers players to drag the club to the SPFL title.
With five games to go, the Gers’ destiny is in their own hands and if it happens, Fernandez will play a big role in both boxes.
The crazy season also applies across the city, with Celtic only having one representative in Benjamin Nygren, mostly for his scoring exploits.
Hearts and Motherwell dominate the PFA selection with four and five players, respectively.
In many ways, their progress has been the story of the season, but the final chapter is yet to be written on the biggest one.
