Rangers could be set for the return of a familiar sound within the annals of Ibrox, with a second singing section teasing a return.
An account claiming to be The Blue Order recently posted a cryptic message to an X account, along with several old photos of the group, suggesting a comeback.
Former members of the group have kyboshed the claims of reformation.
It has been confirmed that it is not the original account of the fan group.
The account which posted the message was also only created only a year ago and has had a large amount of name changes during its existence.
But it has managed to get older members of the Ibrox support talking.
Who are The Blue Order?
TBO formed in 2002. It emerged from a group of Gers supporters who wanted to bring a more organised form of backing to Ibrox Stadium, to encourage visual and vocal support for the full duration of the game.
At that time, British fan culture was still largely organic, with chanting happening naturally rather than being coordinated.
The Blue Order tried to change that, to an extent.
They remained a part of the Ibrox singing section in the Broomloan Road stand until 2014.
At this time, the group gave up their season tickets in protest against the Mike Ashley-backed regime in the boardroom at the time.
Their efforts were in conjunction with wider fan initiatives during that bleak period for the club, but it efrectively brought the end of the group.
They had shared BF1 with the younger, emerging ultra-influenced group, the Union Bears, towards the end of their time.
TBO moved back across the Broomloan toward their original location, before end of their time.
The old ‘Big Blue’ surfer banner of the group made an appearance at last Sunday’s flag day, in line with the retro theme, but nobody involved in its unfurling is part of any reformation plans or social media posts.
Celtic and Rangers ticket row
However, this may be a ploy following recent events.
Celtic have refused to issue tickets to Rangers’ fans for the upcoming Old Firm derby on May 10.
The Hoops offered Rangers a full away allocation for the final derby of the season.
But this was only on the condition that tickets were not distributed to supporters they believe were involved in a recent disorder at Ibrox in the previous Old Firm.
Rangers refused the condition, arguing it would create a “material sporting imbalance” and set a dangerous precedent.
This led Celtic to refuse to issue any away tickets to Rangers.
The club insists it has been working with Celtic on safety concerns and wants the fixture to retain a full away allocation and has now referred the dispute to the SPFL board.
The workaround
Amid the row, speculation has emerged over a possible return for The Blue Order.
The recent social media post has prompted discussion among supporters.
With some even suggesting it could be a workaround, potentially allowing tickets to be distributed under a different banner.
The SPFL have also yet to rule on the ticketing dispute, with an announcement expected today.
However, as always, we will keep you fully up to date on Read Rangers.
