- Tuur Rommens has returned from injury
- Danny Rohl confirmed the update at Friday’s press conference, but urged caution for Hearts clash
- Unlikely that the Belgian could play the full game, but he is a crucial influence for Rangers
Danny Rohl has confirmed the return of Tuur Rommens in what is a timely boost for all at Rangers.
The flying Belgian full-back has resumed training with his teammates, but the manager gave a “let’s see” teaser on whether or not he will feature at Tynecastle.
The January signing from Westerlo last featured for Rangers against Aberdeen on 21 March and his absence has been felt.
Jayden Meghoma has made a steady contribution this season, but he is not Tuur Rommens.
Rohl updates on Tuur Rommens and Ryan Naderi
The update on Rommens is a significant one, but with Ryan Naderi, there isn’t as much hope or expectation that he is set for an imminent return.
With so much riding on Monday’s clash against Hearts at Tynecastle, if Rangers don’t win, there is no point in having the striker play before he really needs to.
Rangers should be taking no risks on that basis, but a win over Derek McInnes’ team changes the equation.
Then you would be looking at going to Parkhead and wanting the best possible team available.
However, all that matters is the here and now. That is the next game.
There is no looking past Hearts.
Souttar fears allayed
Danny Rohl also indicated that John Souttar has taken an impact on his knee, but he is expected to be in the squad on Monday.
Some fans have been calling for the Scotland international to return for the run-in, and overall, it will be interesting to see what changes the manager decides for Hearts.
Full reaction to follow later today, and over the weekend, on Read Rangers.
