- Danny Rohl has indicated changes will be made to the Rangers team to play Hearts
- Lessons have to be learned from the disappointing loss to Motherwell
- Questions have been asked of the players and the manager – now they must respond
Danny Rohl has indicated that changes will be made to his Rangers line-up for the massive game against Hearts on Monday.
The squad travels to the capital for the Bank Holiday showdown knowing that only a win will suffice to keep the title dream alive.
When asked about the approach for the game, and if he needs to do something different to secure the win, his response was a very interesting one.
In particular, he noted the need to be organised and how attritional the game will be.
Danny Rohl set to make changes for Hearts clash
It’s gonna be a physical battle, alright!
With that in mind, Connor Barron, Mo Diomande or both will be required, with Tochi Chukwuani possibly missing out from the start this time around.
Don’t expect to see Bojan Miovski starting the game either.
Danny Rohl is expecting a demanding, physical encounter at Tynecastle on Monday.
“I think you will have a lot of 50-50 duels, he said
“You have to win, you have to move the ball in good areas. You have to be very active, you have to ask for the ball. This is crucial.
“You have to be well organised. I think you have to be smart in the duels because if you make stupid fouls in dangerous areas, then we give them the strength for that place as well.
“On the other side, if we have our best day, then I think they have a lot of challenges to control us and I think this is the part as well.
Rohl demands full performance from his players
It was interesting that the manager went on to talk about needing a full performance from his men.
It’s no use starting the game well then falling away, like we saw against Celtic at Ibrox. Similarly, Rangers simply can’t afford to go behind again this time, requiring a salvage job like Falkirk and Motherwell in recent weeks.
He made this clear.
“We need now in the next four games a performance which is nearly and maybe sometimes over 100% to take the points.
“I think this is crucial now. You cannot just play 95% or just 45 minutes good football, added the German coach.
“You have to play it over the full time, and this is a big part in this game.”

The manager is correct to demand the maximum in application and impact from his players.
The same is required from him, too.
Last week against Motherwell, it was clear that the Steelmen were dominating the pitch and bossing the midfield with ease.
Rohl waited too long to make changes. He also got it wrong from the start.
This time has to be different.
Rangers will need an extra body in midfield for the battle that lies ahead.
