Rangers have confirmed that Danny Rohl will be in charge of the first-team squad for the start of next season.
Chairman Andrew Cavenagh confirmed the news at a press gathering at Ibrox on Sunday.
The American reflected on the disappointment of this season, why they are sticking by Rohl, and what issues will be addressed over the summer.
The update on Danny Rohl won’t be what many fans want to hear, but the top brass believes this course of action provides the best chance of success next year.
Cavenagh confirms Rangers’ direction for next season
This afternoon’s update was the right thing to do, providing clarity and certainty after a deeply damaging few weeks for the club.
The title-chase collapse and the James Tavernier exit debacle have meant the season ending with the fanbase on a collective downer.
With nowhere to express the emotion and anger, social media has been awash with the ill-feeling toward the German coach.
This required intervention from Andrew Cavenagh tells the supporters what the plan is.
Now, the club has to deliver on it.
Rangers back Danny Rohl to deliver success
“As we look to next year, Danny is our coach. We believe that Danny gives us the best chance to win the league next year.
“We believe that there are two key elements that he needs to succeed, and that would be a revamped squad, which is probably the most important thing, and a pre-season.
“Danny obviously arrived mid-season. In terms of revamping the squad, we look at our squad and say we have a bunch of good players. We have a good squad, and we’ve proven that in fits and spurts throughout the season.
“But we don’t yet have a good team. And that is our focus this summer – building a winning team.”

There it is.
The announcement we were waiting on, but maybe not the one that was desired.
Questions remain over Danny Rohl, of course they do.
With his relative inexperience in football management, he has demonstrated in recent times that he has made incorrect calls.
That’s OK, as long as he learns from them.
We can’t change the last few weeks, but the response has to be enable change.
The club cannot avoid the necessity of another managerial change in October, and that’s why so many have been vocal on the need for a new direction – now.
As it is, Rohl has received the backing from his superiors.
Now, everything must be geared toward success next season.
