Rangers Pursue Aston Villa Loan for Serbia Full-Back Kosta Nedeljkovic

Rangers are pursuing a loan move for Kosta Nedeljkovic, the Aston Villa and Serbia right-back, as Derek McInnes hunts reinforcements.

According to the Daily Record and The Herald, the Ibrox club are exploring a season-long loan for the 20-year-old, who has slipped down the pecking order at Villa Park under Unai Emery.

Nedeljkovic has featured for Villa during pre-season, but he’s not expected to figure in the first team this season.

He went on loan to RB Leipzig in January 2025, then returned to eastern Germany for the full 2025/26 campaign.

Why Kosta Nedeljkovic fits McInnes’ plans

The Gers have endured a testing start to the campaign, and a right-back has been identified as a priority as McInnes reshapes his squad.

Nedeljkovic, valued at around £8m, is reported to be available for a temporary switch with Emery favouring other options at Villa.

BBC Sport, rounding up Monday’s gossip, listed Rangers among the clubs considering the Serbia international on loan.

A temporary deal would let the Light Blues add pace and youth at full-back without committing a major fee in a window that closes on September 3.

So far, Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie have been far from convincing and most fans would welcome a further option at Right Back.

With Mohamed Diomande closing on a move to Turkey, incomings and outgoings are gathering pace at Ibrox.

McInnes will hope to have his right-back target resolved sooner rather than later.
