Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland is facing another prolonged absence after sustaining a severe hamstring problem during the weekend clash with Motherwell.

The forward was forced off eight minutes into the 1-0 win at Ibrox Stadium. McInnes fears the setback mirrors a previous physical issue, dealing a significant blow to his leadership as club captain.

“It is a hamstring injury; it is an injury he has had previously at Hearts last January when he was out for three months,” McInnes said.

“Hopefully it is not as bad as that, but certainly it is in a similar area.”

Restructuring The Ibrox Attacking Line

With Youssef Chermiti already sidelined, the Scottish Premiership side must quickly reshape their attacking setup. Ryan Naderi replaced the skipper and instantly scored, stepping up as the attacking depth is tested.

New signing Kevin Kelsy also made his debut alongside the goalscorer. McInnes backed the alternative forwards to deliver in upcoming fixtures, praising Naderi for his high-pressing intensity.

“And I was delighted for Ryan. The good thing with Ryan, even when he’s not his best, he puts himself about, he lets centre-halves know he’s there. He presses brilliantly, which is great when you’re playing against a team like Motherwell.”

Rangers will evaluate medical scans on Monday before turning their attention back to domestic action.
