Rangers academy graduate Calum Adamson secured three assists for Raith Rovers in a 4-0 Scottish Championship triumph over Arbroath on Saturday.
The 19-year-old Scotland Under-19 international controlled proceedings at Stark’s Park, creating two early goals before assisting a third following an opposition red card. Adamson featured during Rangers’ pre-season preparations under Derek McInnes, deploying a physical style that addresses the club’s future box-to-box midfield requirements.
Addressing Future Midfield Demands
The 6ft 1in prospect made over 30 appearances across all competitions at Alloa Athletic last season before securing this targeted second-tier assignment. His transition to the Championship follows a successful loan stint at the Fife club by fellow Rangers youth product Paul Nsio.
While McInnes relies on immediate attacking options to navigate current squad constraints and manages an ongoing defensive squad overhaul, Adamson is rapidly developing his senior credentials away from Ibrox.
Speaking to rydc.co.uk upon his arrival, Adamson highlighted his specific tactical objectives.
“I’m one of those players that feels like I’ve got both sides of the game. I enjoy the physical side of it and, if you lose the ball, have those reactions and tackles,” he said.
“This year, I want to add goals and assists,” he added.
A sustained run of minutes under Dougie Imrie will dictate whether Rangers initiate a January recall conversation. Rangers next visit Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday 20 September.
