- Emmanuel Fernandez is the sole Rangers inclusion in PFA Team of the Year after standout season.
- Bob Malcolm urges focus on fixtures before Falkirk amid tight title race.
- Bailey Rice makes long-awaited return from injury and more.
Only one Rangers player made the PFA Scotland Team of the Year announced yesterday evening.
Defender Emmanuel Fernandez was included in the XI chosen by the player’s union alongside Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren, five Motherwell players and four Hearts players.
Rangers announced his inclusion with a short social media post.
“Emmanuel Fernandez has been voted into the PFA Scotland Scottish Premiership Team of the Year,” they wrote.
“The 24-year-old has been recognised by his fellow professionals in the top-flight for an outstanding campaign.
“He has made 28 appearances in all competitions this campaign, and his excellent form was rewarded recently with an international debut for Nigeria.”
There was no place for either Mikey Moore or Nico Raskin, as both provincial sides took precedence after outstanding seasons.
Bob Malcolm urges Rangers to tie up title before Falkirk clash
Former defender Bob Malcolm has urged Rangers to focus on the immediate challenges in their title run-in rather than a potentially decisive final-day trip to Falkirk.
With Rangers sitting one point behind leaders Hearts and two clear of Celtic, the margins are tight heading into a demanding sequence of fixtures.
Malcolm acknowledged the significance of home advantage but stressed the importance of the games still to come.
“Obviously home advantage would be great,” he said.
“But there is a lot of points to be won before the final game and hopefully the current team can get the job done before then.”
Rangers first host Motherwell at Ibrox before travelling to face Hearts in a match that could prove pivotal in the title race.
An away clash with Celtic follows, offering another major test against a direct rival.
They then return to Ibrox to take on Hibernian.
Malcolm was part of the Rangers team that won the Premiership title on the road in 2005.
Bailey Rice returns
Rangers posted images from their training camp in Spain ahead of their return to Scotland yesterday.
Fans were delighted to see both defender Tuur Rommens and forward Ryan Naderi back in training after recent knocks.
However, another long-term injured star was also involved after missing the majority of the campaign.
Midfielder Bailey Rice was pictured with the team.
Rice, has been out since August, picking up an injury following a League Cup tie with Alloa under Russell Martin.
He was expected to miss the entire season but has returned ahead of the run in.
The 19-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and his future remains up in the air after four years with the club.
Rangers face battle for Jens Hjerto-Dahl
Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing a summer move for Tromso star Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been one of the standout performers in the Eliteserien, with his form attracting interest from across Europe.
Wolves are now positioning themselves to win that race, as they look to strengthen their options ahead of next season.
Hjerto-Dahl is no stranger to transfer speculation.
He was linked with a move to Rangers during the January window, with the Ibrox side monitoring his progress closely as part of their longer-term recruitment strategy.
There remains an expectation that Danny Rohl could revisit that interest in the summer.
Rangers will however, face stiff competition for his signature.
