- Chris Sutton gives his unlikely title race verdict
- His statement comes following Rangers’ 3-2 loss to Motherwell
- Sutton stressed the importance of Rangers’ next game against Hearts
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes Rangers will win the league over Celtic in this season’s title race.
The incredible statement from one of Rangers’ harshest critics comes after the Gers lost 3-2 to Motherwell.
The loss means Celtic go above Rangers in the Premiership table after they beat Falkirk 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Sutton, who scored 64 goals in 104 league games for Celtic, still isn’t convinced by Martin O’Neill’s side.
Rangers’ arch-rivals have scrapped and clawed to stay in the title race, putting in some unconvincing performances.
Sutton shared his thoughts on the three-way title race on BBC Radio 5’s Monday Night Club.

Chris Sutton gives Rangers the edge over Celtic.
The former striker turned TV pundit was asked whether he thought Rangers had a better chance of winning the title than Celtic.
Sutton replied, “Yes. Bearing in mind Celtic haven’t beaten them (in the league), and they’ve got to go to Celtic Park, and it wouldn’t be a great surprise (if Rangers won).
“Celtic are finding a way, but I do not think that’s sustainable.
“I watch Celtic every week. Even on Saturday night against Falkirk, they just aren’t convincing.”
In the game on Saturday afternoon at Parkhead, Falkirk looked threatening throughout and managed 11 shots in the contest.
“I’m not sure Celtic will go to Hibs and get a result. They won there earlier this season, but Hibs beat and drew with them at Parkhead.
“Celtic haven’t beaten Hearts and Rangers [in the league] all season.”
The former Celtic man gave his verdict on Rangers’ title-chances, highlighting the importance of the Hearts fixture.
“You talk about pivotal games: if Hearts beat Rangers, essentially I think that is Rangers out of it.”

Sutton has spelled out what every Rangers fan knows: if they don’t beat Hearts, the title race is done.
Despite Rangers losing and Celtic winning, the previous form of each team suggests Rangers have more offensive firepower.
The Gers have been solid against Celtic in the league this season and can draw confidence from their win in January.
Celtic aren’t convincing, but neither are Rangers in the first half of games, as they showed against Falkirk and Motherwell.
The truth is, neither side looks convincing of late, but with four games to play, any of the three can win it.
Rangers’ next two trips to Hearts and Celtic will either make or break their season.
