- Ally McCoist is Rangers’ greatest-ever striker
- He insists the Gers must sign this one frontman in the summer
- He has the pedigree to be that 20-goal a season player they crave
Ally McCoist is no stranger to title-winning success and scoring goals for fun at Ibrox.
The former Rangers frontman scored 355 goals in 581 appearances for Rangers in all competitions.
He won consecutive European Golden Boots in 1992 and 1993 while securing 20 major titles for the club.
It’s safe to say that McCoist knows a thing or two about scoring goals at Rangers and he’s given his verdict on striker they should sign next.
The current frontline has been exceptional in patches, especially Youssef Chermiti, who’s netted 12 goals in the league.
However, none of the frontlines have been consistent from the start of the season until now.
McCoist thinks Rangers must sign this forward, who has a knack for scoring at a high rate in a competitive league.

Ally McCoist’s verdict
Speaking to TalkSport Bet Casino, McCoist has urged the Gers to sign current Leeds striker Joel Piroe in the summer.
Piroe has been heavily linked with Rangers, especially in January, as Leeds and Rangers share the same ownership.
The Leeds striker has insisted he wants to stay and fight for his place, but McCoist wants the Gers to bring him in.
McCoist said, “Joel Piroe would be a great signing for Rangers.
“He probably hasn’t done as well as you’d have hoped in the Premier League, but I’ve seen enough of him.
“As a Rangers supporter, I wouldn’t mind that at all.
“I think he could certainly do a job up here. I think he’d adapt to this football as well.”

A proven finisher
This season, goals and game time have been a struggle for Piroe, registering only 218 minutes of Premier League football.
In his last 90 minutes for Leeds, he scored once in the club’s 3-0 victory over Norwich in the FA Cup.
When given the chance to lead the line on a regular basis, Piroe is a striker who can fire teams to success.
He’s a deadly marksman.
Piroe registered 24 and 20 goals in successive seasons for Swansea City in the Championship before moving to Leeds.
In Leeds’ promotion season, he registered 19 goals and won the EFL Championship’s Golden Boot.
Piroe thrives in a league full of physicality, giving him the right attributes to come to Scotland and perform.

When Ally McCoist thinks you’ll be a good striker for Rangers, that’s often a sign to go and try to sign the player.
A striker of Piroe’s calibre wouldn’t go amiss if they were to challenge on all fronts next season.
At 26, he’s entering the prime of his career, and a prime Piroe in Scotland could be the missing piece in Rangers’ arsenal.
Piroe isn’t just a target man; he’s a forward who can play off a focal point and as a number 10.
He provides the clinical edge that converts Rohl’s high possession into goals.
Should Rangers listen to McCoist and go after the striker in the summer?
