- A transfer insider unveils latest Luca Stephenson twist
- The right back has been sensational for Dundee United this season
- Rangers need a worthy replacement for James Tavernier
A prominent transfer correspondent has unveiled the latest twist surrounding the future of Luca Stephenson.
The fullback, who’s been on loan at Dundee United from Liverpool, has mightily impressed in the SPFL Premiership this season.
Stephenson has been a rumoured transfer target for Rangers, especially with James Tavernier announcing he was leaving at the end of the season.
Reports suggest Stephenson wanted to return to Liverpool and fight for a spot under Arne Slot.
However, transfer specialist Pete O’Rourke has announced a major twist that could see play for Rangers in the summer.
His performances this season are proof that he can make a similar impact to James Tavernier, given the time to shine.

The Luca Stephenson latest
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke gave the latest on Stephenson’s future.
He said, “He’s somebody that Rangers did look at and were keeping tabs on, Luca Stephenson, due to his form on loan at Dundee United.
“He’s had his season ended by a new injury at Dundee United, but up until then, he was having a fine season for the Tannadice club.”
The fullback suffered a season-ending hamstring injury and will miss the remaining four games of the campaign.
O’Rourke admitted, “Long-term, Stephenson is ready to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis.
“He wants to find a permanent home and nail down a place in the starting XI on a regular basis as well.
“He doesn’t think he will get that at Liverpool.
“So, there are a number of clubs on alert and ready to offer him a move away from Anfield.”

Up until his injury, Stephenson was one of the league’s best right-backs, making him an ideal replacement for Tavernier.
In 32 SPFL Premiership starts, Stephenson scored five goals and produced five assists from right back.
Ten goals and assists combined are numbers that can only be compared to the legendary Rangers captain.
The Liverpool youngster is battle-hardened in Scotland and is only 22, giving him years to develop.
With the thought that he wants to leave permanently, Rangers will be licking their lips at the prospect of signing him.
It’s up to the Gers on which option they go for.
With Swedish U21 star Hampus Skoglund heavily linked with a move.
Like Skoglund, Stephenson fits the buy-low, potentially sell-high criteria if he performs at Ibrox.
What do you think? Would you like to see Luca Stephenson in a Rangers jersey next season?
