Mohamed Diomande has dismissed any notion of frustration over his lack of recent game time for Rangers.

The midfielder has not started a match since a draw away to Motherwell in early February and was once again on the bench as the Steelmen left Ibrox with a victory last Sunday.

He did however, perform well after his introduction at half-time, helping Danny Rohl’s side recover from two down at the break to level the match before Emmanuel Longelo’s late winner.

Mohamed Diomande shrugs off game-time concerns

“There was not really a solid reason,” Diomande said when asked why he had struggled for minutes recently.

“We have a lot of quality players. I can only work hard and show I’m ready.”

Diomande led by example last week, putting in a solid performance and providing an assist for Youssef Chermiti.

“We have different characters,” he explained.

“Some lead by example, some talk a lot.

“We all try to motivate each other.”

Tynecastle test

He is now hopeful of returning to the starting XI at Tynecastle, in what could be a defining match for the Gers season.

They now trail both Hearts and Celtic by four points, with four fixtures remaining for both themselves and the Jambos, and three for the Hoops.

Rangers will look to cut that to one, ahead of next Sunday’s Old Firm match at Parkhead.

The Ivorian feels fit and ready to contribute within both games.

“There is big competition, but I can’t really like decide if he’s going to play me or not but I can only work hard.

“I showed in training that I’m ready to play and I do everything I can.”

With the season entering its decisive stretch, Diomande’s attitude may yet prove as important as his ability.

Ready to contribute and pushing for a recall, the midfielder has positioned himself as a valuable option ahead of a defining trip to Tynecastle.

Whether from the start or off the bench, his impact could be crucial.

Especially as Rangers fight to keep their title hopes alive against Hearts.
