- Rangers preparing major summer clear-out under Danny Rohl with reduced pre-season squad at Ibrox.
- Multiple loanees and fringe players expected to leave as part of leadership-focused squad rebuild strategy.
- Andrew Cavenagh confirms shift to quality over quantity, prioritising leadership, chemistry, and team structure.
Rangers are preparing for a significant summer overhaul under Danny Rohl, with internal planning already pointing towards a leaner, more defined squad at the Rangers Training Centre as pre-season approaches.
The scale of expected turnover includes a large group of returning loanees who are not believed to have a pathway back into the first-team environment.
With several already earmarked for permanent exits as part of the club’s recruitment reset.
No return for Ibrox loanees
Among those understood to be moving on are Ross McCausland, Oscar Cortes, Jose Cifuentes, Clinton Nsiala, Danilo and Lyall Cameron.
All of whom are widely expected to be surplus to requirements following their loan spells away.
Sources have suggested that the majority, if not all of those returning will not be involved within the first-team set up.
Added to that are the departures of loanees Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Derek Cornelius, Andreas Skov Olsen and Jayden Meghoma.
The future of Mikey Moore also remains unsure.
Rohl has indicated he would “love” to bring the 18-year-old back for another season long loan.
Moore however has said that the decision is up to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi.
James Tavernier, goalkeeper Kieran Wright and Leon King have already departed Ibrox, with Ben Davies expected to follow.
The futures of Bailey Rice and Liam Kelly remain unresolved, with both out of contract at the end of May.
Smaller squad for Danny Rohl
This means up to 11 players could be exiled when the Gers return for pre-season in June.
With the future of more up in the air.
The direction of travel aligns with recent messaging from the club’s leadership.
“We go into the summer with no pressure to sell from a financial perspective,” Cavenagh said, outlining a shift in control over the club’s transfer strategy and removing the need for forced exits.
He also emphasised the new focus on squad balance and mentality.
“It will be a step down in terms of volume from last year,” he explained.
“But one step up in terms of focus on chemistry, leadership, etc.”
That approach is already being reflected in squad decisions, with sources suggesting multiple players being informed they will train separately while transfer solutions are sought.
Fringe stars set for Ibrox exits after Danny Rohl decision
There remains additional uncertainty over two senior attacking options.
Both Nedim Bajrami and Bojan Miovski failed to secure consistent involvement during the closing stages of the campaign under Rohl.
Neither player managed to establish regular minutes in the run-in, leaving their long-term roles open to reassessment as Rangers continue to evaluate attacking options ahead of a pivotal summer window.

Rohl has tasked with reducing a previously bloated group into a more coherent, competitive core capable of sustaining a title challenge with leadership included across the group.
Cavenagh’s insistence on “more leadership, more mentality” has become a defining theme of the rebuild.
Recruitment will now be shaped as much by character and experience as by technical profile.
As he put it: “We haven’t stitched it together sometimes for 90 minutes and certainly not across the season.”
For Rohl, the challenge now is execution.
He must convert a clear strategic reset into a functioning squad before the new campaign begins in earnest.
